Adams Transcription opened in April 1996, serving one medical practice in the rural town of Snow Hill, North Carolina. Wendy drove to the office at daybreak to pick up audio tapes, transcribed the patient encounters, printed the transcripts on sticky paper, and hand delivered the product to the office the next morning where it was then pasted into the paper chart.
Skilled, educated, disciplined women and men, several of which are still on the team today, took pride in the product. We took pride in our reputation as we served the local community ensuring our accuracy and timeliness were impeccable. Little did we know, the world wide web and the Electronic Medical Record were waiting just over the horizon. Our team not only witnessed revolutionary change, we were the change.
